APA 6th Edition Referencing: Journal article from the internet

This is a Wintec guide to help you with referencing in the American Psychological Association (APA) style.

Author, A. (Date of publication). Title of journal article. Title of Journal, Journal volume(issue number) and page range of article. Retrieval information

Example—reference list entry

Pantaleo, S. (2005). ‘Reading’ young children’s visual texts. Early Childhood Research & Practice, 7(1). Retrieved from http://ecrp.uiuc.edu/v7n1/pantaleo.html

Example—in-text citation

Pantaleo (2005) states … (Classroom context, para. 3).
or
 … (Pantaleo, 2005, Classroom context, para. 3).

Note: In-text citations include the section heading for online documents without page numbers.

Adaptation of APA rule: APA suggests that for journal articles that do not have a DOI, you need to provide the home page URL of the journal. However for articles retrieved from an open access website (e.g., via Google), we recommend that instead you give the URL of the web page you retrieved the journal article from.
