APA 6th Edition Referencing: Regulations

This is a Wintec guide to help you with referencing in the American Psychological Association (APA) style.

Regulations
Regulations, rules and orders are included in the reference list, in the correct alphabetical sequence. The official, full title of the regulation is required, and this includes the date (there is no comma as it is part of the title). For example:

In-text citations
In text, use the name of the regulation. You will also need to note the clause or regulation referred to.

To reference a regulation, use the abbreviation "reg" and "regs" for regulation and regulations. 

Example—in-text citation
Personal Property Securities Regulations 2001, reg 18.

To reference a rule use the abbreviation “r” and “rr” for rule and rules.

Example—in-text citation
Lotto Amendment Rules 2010, r 6.

To reference an order uses the abbreviation “cl” and “cls” for clause and clauses.

Example—in-text citations
Wildlife (Canada Goose) Order 2011, cl 4.
