Both the City and Rotokauri Hubs have multi-function devices (MFDs), and there are MFDs in each Library. In the tabs on the left you can learn how to print, copy, and scan.

You can top-up your Wintec ID card with print & copy credits online using the online top-up website (onlinetopup.wintec.ac.nz)You can top-up on any device as long as it can connect to the internet using a Debit or Credit card. The minimum amount is $2.

Printing @ Wintec

Printing @ Wintec

All of our multi-fuction devices (MFDs) at Wintec can print. There are costs for printing. 


How to print:

  1. From any Wintec Computer, click Print. This will send your file to a secure printer server, which means that you can print from any Wintec MFD with your student ID card.
  2. Go to any Wintec multi-function device (MFD) with your Wintec ID card.* There are several MFDs in the City and Rotokauri Hubs, and at least one in each Library.
  3. Hold your card over the electronic fob on the machine until it recognises your card.
  4. A list of print jobs should appear.
  5. Select the job(s) that you would like to print. 
  6. Hit START, and your printing job should begin.
  7. If you would like to staple your document, you need to do this when you send the job to the printer from your Wintec computer. Talk to someone at the ITS Student Help Desk to find out how. 

* If you do not have your ID card, you can login to your account at the MFD.

Remember with printing, copying, and scanning that Wintec students are subject to Copyright law.

Under the special educational guidelines Wintec has been granted, you are allowed to print, copy or scan:

  • 10% or 1 chapter of a book, whichever is larger
  • Up to 15 pages of a single work contained in a collection or anthology
  • 1 complete article from a periodical (newspaper, magazine, etc.) or academic journal

Copying @ Wintec

Copying @ Wintec

All of our multi-fuction devices (MFDs) at Wintec can photocopy. Copying costs the same as printing.


How to copy:

  1. Go to a Wintec multi-function device (MFD) with your Wintec ID card.* There are several MFDs in the City and Rotokauri Hubs, and at least one in each Library.
  2. Hold your card over the electronic fob on the machine until it recognises your card.
  3. Select Copy from the buttons on the side of the touch screen.
  4. Lift the lid of the MFD to reveal the glass copy surface. Prepare your copy material.
  5. Find the arrow in the corner of the copy surface frame, and line up your copy material with it. Make sure you have your material arranged how you want it. Ask for help at the ITS Student Help Desk if you are unsure.
  6. Use the buttons to select the number of copies you want, and use the touchscreen to adjust other details if you like.
  7. Hit START, and your copying job should begin.
  8. If you have multiple pages to copy, ask for help at the ITS Student Desk your first time through - it can get complicated.

* If you do not have your ID card, you can login with your username & password at the MFD.

Scanning on Wintec MFDs is free. You can email your scanned file to any email address you input, and it will arrive in downloadable PDF format from 'Ricoh Admin'.

Scanning @ Wintec

Scanning @ Wintec

All of our multi-fuction devices (MFDs) at Wintec can scan. Scanning is free, and does not require a Wintec ID card. When you scan an MFD will send what you have scanned as a downlodable, printable PDF to whatever email address you enter.


How to scan:

  1. Go to a Wintec multi-function device (MFD).There are several MFDs in the City and Rotokauri Hubs, and at least one in each Library. You do not need your Wintec ID card.
  2. Select Scan from the buttons on the side of the touchscreen.
  3. Lift the lid of the MFD to reveal the glass scanning surface. Prepare your scanning material.
  4. Find the arrow in the corner of the scanning surface frame, and line up your scanning material with it. Make sure you have your material arranged how you want it. Ask for help at the ITS Student Help Desk if you are unsure.
  5. Close the lid.
  6. Choose 'Manual Entry' on the touch screen, and use the keyboard to enter the email address you want to email the PDF of your scan to. This can be any email address, it does not have to be a Wintec one. Hit 'OK' when you are finished.
  7. Hit START, and your scanning job should begin.
  8. If you have multiple pages to scan, ask for help at the ITS Student Desk your first time through - it can get a little complicated.
  9. Your scan email should appear in your inbox soon. It will be from 'Ricoh Admin'.

Multiple-page scans will likely not be sent quickly, and may also be in violation of Copyright law. Ask at the Library Issues Desk if you are concerned about the size or length of the material you want to scan.
