APA 7th Edition Referencing Guide1

A Wintec Library guide to referencing in APA 7th edition style

Referencing conference material

Conference material can include presentations of papers, keynote speeches, and symposium contributions (short sessions where speakers are invited to make presentations about a particular topic).

Difference between a conference session, a paper presentation, and conference proceedings

  • A conference session is the live presentation of material at a conference that is not a paper/article presentation. It may include the keynote address, a poster or PowerPoint presentation, and workshops.
  • A paper presentation is the live presentation of an article that has been submitted prior to the conference.
  • Proceedings are formally published paper presentations. They are often published in journals, and the word "Proceedings" should be in the title of the source.
